Nominees announced for 2021-22 Hawk Awards

WEST POINT, Ga. (May 21, 2022) – With the completion of the 2021-22 athletic season, the second annual Hawk Awards have begun to commemorate the achievements of the Point University athletic department this past season.

The nominees for 20 categories have been announced on social media, and the voting process will run until May 26. For more in-depth information on the categories and nominees, see below.

Nominees for Female Freshman of the Year

Kelli Grimsley- Grimsley recorded 22 goals and 24 points for the women's lacrosse team. She recorded 56 shots on goal, 50 ground balls, 53 draw controls and caused 11 turnovers. Grimsley had three 3-goal games on the season.

Sameily Marquez- Made an appearance in 17 matches for Point volleyball and recorded 45 kills, averaging 1.36 kills per set. Marquez recorded a career-high 12 kills in Point's 5-set victory over Milligan on Oct. 30.

Fredricka Zetterblom- Zetterblom competed in the No. 1 position for the women's golf team in her debut season. She began her freshman campaign by winning the Skyhawks' Fall Invitational as an individual. She finished in the top-20 in all 10 tournaments the Skyhawks competed in and finished in the top-10 in seven of those 10. Zetterblom was named to the All-AAC second team.

Nominees for Male Freshman of the Year

Malyke Sillers- Sillers started and competed in all 13 games for the men's lacrosse team. He had a team-high 28 goals and recorded 30 points. Sillers recorded a career-high of five goals twice this season, the first against Webber International (03/11), the second against Mount Vernon Nazarene (04/05).

Tommy Eskew- Eskew did not begin the season as an everyday starter for the men's soccer team but quickly made his way into the starting lineup as a key attacker. He recorded four goals and four assists in his freshman campaign and his most notable game came in Point's 1-0 win over Union, where Eskew recorded the game-winning goal.

Josiah Blair- Blair set multiple school records in his freshman campaign for the men's swim team. He was versatile for the Skyhawks as he competed in several events for the program. The records that Blair set includes 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 100 back and 4x100 freestyle. 

Nominees for Female Newcomer of the Year

Sheyvonne Owens- Owens transferred from Hillsborough Community College. She was recognized on the All-AAC second team and All-Defensive team for her performance this season on the women's basketball team. The junior recorded 11 double-doubles during the regular season and broke two rebound program records. Against CIU on Jan. 18, Owens set a new record for most rebounds in a single game (22) and a new record for single-season rebounds with 320, breaking the record by 60 rebounds. Owens averaged 11.1 boards a game in AAC play and 9.5 points per game. She finished the regular season eighth in the AAC in field goal percentage (47.3), first in offensive rebounds, both in the NAIA (135) and conference (105), third in the AAC in defensive rebounds (151), second in total rebounds (256) and second in rebounds per game. Owens was second in the nation in defensive rebounds, total rebounds and rebounds per game.

Haley Lyner- Lyner transferred to Point from Southern Union Community College. Lyner earned a spot on the All-AAC second team for her efforts during the regular season for Point softball. Lyner finished the season with a .391 batting average, eight home runs, 52 RBIs, 70 hits, 18 doubles, four triples and eight stolen bases. She had an on-base percentage of .417 and a slugging percentage of .670. She holds the single-season program records for runs scored (52), hits, home runs and extra-base hits (30). Lyner was No. 2 in the AAC in RBIs. Lyner opened the season with a 10-game hit streak and went on another 10-game hit streak from March 20 to April 2. From April 7 to April 25 she went on another 10-game hit streak.

Asia Jones- Jones transferred from Wallace Community College (Dothan). She was recognized on the All-Tournament team for her efforts in this year's AAC softball tournament. The junior finished the season with a .388 batting average, 56 RBIs, 31 runs scored, 66 hits and 14 doubles. She had a .500 slugging percentage and a .418 on-base percentage. Jones holds the program record for most RBIs in a single season. Jones was No. 1 in the AAC in RBIs. Jones went on an 11-game hit streak from Feb. 8 to Feb. 22 and a 10-game hit streak from March 14 to March 26. In the AAC tournament, Jones was 7-for-11 overall.

Nominees for Male Newcomer of the Year

Jackson Bush- Bush transferred to Point from Bishop State Community College. He finished the season with a .344 batting average, nine home runs, 38 RBIs, 41 runs scored, seven stolen bases, 43 hits, and 11 doubles. He had an on-base percentage of .491 and a slugging percentage of .648. Bush finished the season with a team-high in home runs and slugging percentage. Bush played an integral part in baseball's upset victory over No. 2 Tennessee Wesleyan University, as he scored the game-tying run off a 3-run home run. He then reached base in the ninth to load the bases, allowing Alex Marquand to score the game-winning run off a bases-loaded walk.  

Jhamante Woods- Woods transferred to Point from Spokane Falls Community College. Woods finished the season with a .250 batting average, eight home runs, 25 RBIs, 18 runs scored, and 27 hits. Woods had an on base percentage of .325 and a slugging percentage of .519. After returning from injury, Woods' bat was on fire at the AAC tournament, as he went 4-for-5 after missing 12 games. Woods played a key role in the Skyhawks' game-three victory over Bryan during the regular season, as the Skyhawks trailed 9-8 in the top of the ninth and Woods extended the game with a solo home run, helping Point win in extra innings.

Javier Turner- Turner transferred from the NCAA Division I University of Wyoming. The 6'11 sophomore made 18 starts in 32 games played for men's basketball. He had a 45% field goal percentage, 86 defensive rebounds and 33 offensive rebounds. He averaged 3.7 rebounds per game and 4.4 points per game.

Nominees for Female Fall Athlete of the Year

Te'a Owens- Owens played in all 30 matches for Point volleyball during her senior campaign. She led the team with 308 kills, averaging 2.88 kills per set. She reached a career milestone of 1,000 kills in Point's game against Johnson on Oct. 15. Owens also helped anchor Point's defense, as she recorded the second-most digs on the season with 320. She registered the most points for the team with 350.5.

Kelly Carlisle- Carlisle started and played in all 13 conference games for women's soccer at forward and had a team-high alongside Kager with seven goals. She recorded three assists, 17 points, 39 shots and accounted for two game-winning goals. Carlisle earned a spot on the All-AAC second team for her efforts.

Carmen Kager- Kager earned a spot on the All-AAC first team for her efforts for Point women's soccer. Kager finished conference play with seven goals and a team-high of eight assists. She started and played in all 13 conference games and all 17 games in the season. She accounted for 22 points and took 44 shots in AAC play, and had two game-winning goals. Kager scored three goals and the game-winning goal in Point's 5-1 victory over Columbia during the regular season. The senior's hat trick was Point's first hat trick since 2017 and the first hat trick the Skyhawks have had in AAC play since joining the conference in 2012.

Nominees for Male Fall Athlete of the Year

Gabriel Jacon-Duffy- Jacon-Duffy of the Point University football team earned honorable mention on the 2021 AFCA NAIA Coaches' All-America team, was named the Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-MSC first team. He finished the season with 13.0 sacks, 21.0 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles in 11 games. Jacon-Duffy finished the season No. 1 in the nation in sacks. Overall, he finished the season with 34 solo tackles, 23 assisted tackles, and an average of 5.2 tackles per game. He recorded three sacks in three separate games.

Jeronimo Leguizamon- Leguizamon led men's soccer to its first NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Opening Round appearance in program history. He was selected as a 2021 NAIA All-America honorable mention and was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year. The sophomore earned AAC Golden Boot honors and a spot on the AAC All-Conference first team. He led the nation in scoring this season with 25 goals in 19, ranking No. 1 in the NAIA in goals and shots taken (130). Leguizamon's average of 1.32 goals per game featured him scoring multiple goals six times, two hat tricks, and two games with four goals or more. Leguizamon tallied a career-high and set a new school record with most goals scored in a game with five in Point's win over Johnson (Tenn.) on Oct. 9. Leguizamon was the first in Point men's soccer history to garner NAIA Player of the Week recognition on Nov. 2, after scoring seven goals in two matches and setting a new school record for most goals scored in a single season (22). Leguizamon connected for Point's fifth PK to earn the AAC Championship title for the men's soccer program against Tennessee Wesleyan. His efforts in the AAC tournament earned him tournament MVP honors.

Julio Gomes- Gomes finished his collegiate career as one of the most well-decorated goalies in men's soccer program history. He finished with the highest save percentage (.870) and is second in career wins (12) and single-season wins (11). Gomes became the first-ever person in program history to get named national defensive player of the week and the second individual to near a national player of the week recognition. Gomes earned All-tournament honors for his efforts in the AAC tournament that helped lead the men's soccer team to the program's first NAIA National Championship appearance. Gomes finished his career with 95 saves, only allowed 22 goals and had a save percentage of .834.

Nominees for Female Winter Athlete of the Year

Marta Gimenez- Gimenez led the women's basketball team to one of the most successful seasons in program history. She was named to the All-AAC first team and All-Defensive team and served as the Skyhawks' point guard and anchored Point's offense, finishing the regular season No. 4 in the AAC in assists (105), and has contributed to a dominant Point defense as No. 2 in the AAC in steals (55). Gimenez averaged 12.5 points per game and led Point, averaging 4.4 assists per game and 2.3 steals per game. Gimenez broke the program record for assists in a single season, which she currently holds with 138. She recorded the first triple-double in program history in Point's 72-59 victory over Johnson (Tenn.) on Jan. 13.

The junior recorded 11 double-doubles during the regular season and broke two rebound program records. Iyanna McMillan- McMillan found her way into the double-figures scoring column in 16 AAC games this past season to help earn her a spot on the All-AAC second team. McMillan finished the regular season averaging 12.7 points per game and ranked No. 11 in the AAC in triples, going 45-145. She finished No. 8 in the conference in free throw percentage (80.6), going 50-for-62 from the charity stripe. McMillan scored her 1,000th career point in Point's victory over Montreat on Jan. 31.

Nominees for Male Winter Athlete of the Year

Chance Wilson- Wilson was named to the NAIA Cheer All-American Honorable Mention team for his efforts this season for Point cheer. Wilson helped lead the program to its second appearance at the NAIA Competitive Cheer and Dance Championship. This was the team's first time performing on the national championship stage and Point finished in 11th place.

Corey Bowen- Bowen earned a spot on the All-AAC second team to cap off a successful career for men's basketball. He scored his 1,000th career point on Nov. 20 and registered 466 points on the season. Bowen finished AAC play, averaging 14.4 points per game, a team-high. He was No. 5 in the conference in field goal percentage (62.1), fourth in offensive rebounds (59), eighth in total rebounds (175), ninth in rebounds per game (7.6), and sixth in blocks (18). Bowen scored double-figures in 20 AAC games, scoring in the double-figures column in the final 10 games played. He recorded double-figures in rebounds seven times to finish with seven double-doubles in AAC play.

Lorenzo Freeman Jr.- Freeman earned a spot on the All-AAC second team to cap off a successful career for men's basketball. He scored his 1,000th career point on Jan. 11 and registered 408 points on the season. Freeman finished AAC play averaging 14.3 points per game and recorded double-figures in 15 AAC games. He finished 17th in the conference in field goals (112-289), 16th in points per game (14.3) and 12th in points per 40 minutes (22.4). Freeman finished No. 13 in defensive rebounds (106) and No. 19 in rebounds per game (5.8).

Nominees for Female Spring Athlete of the Year

Kaelyn Geathers- Geathers broke the women's lacrosse program record for most goals scored in a single game this season. Geathers scored 10 goals off 19 shots (15 on goal) in Point's game against Tennessee Wesleyan on April 7. Geathers led the team this season with 32 goals and registered 33 points. She was No. 2 on the team in ground balls (45) and draw controls (45) and led the team with 93 shots and shots on goal (65).

Haley Lyner- Lyner earned a spot on the All-AAC second team for her efforts during the regular season for Point softball. Lyner finished the season with a .391 batting average, eight home runs, 52 RBIs, 70 hits, 18 doubles, four triples and eight stolen bases. She had an on-base percentage of .417 and a slugging percentage of .670. She holds the single-season program records for runs scored (52), hits, home runs and extra-base hits (30). Lyner was No. 2 in the AAC in RBIs. Lyner opened the season with a 10-game hit streak and went on another 10-game hit streak from March 20 to April 2. From April 7 to April 25 she went on another 10-game hit streak.

Nominees for Male Spring Athlete of the Year

Dillon Brown- Led Point baseball's postseason awards by earning a spot on the All-AAC second team and Golden Glove team. The senior closed out his final season with a .353 batting average, .503 on-base percentage and a .444 slugging percentage. He registered 52 runs, 54 hits, 20 RBIs, 32 walks and 23 stolen bases. He led the team in batting average, on-base percentage, stolen bases, walks, runs scored, at-bats and hits. Brown finished the season with a .981 fielding percentage (.986 AAC) and only committed two errors (one in conference play) in 44 games (30 AAC games). The senior registered 106 total chances, 100 putouts and four assists.

Cole Stevens- Closed out the regular season as the No. 4 golfer in the NAIA. Is a finalist for the 2022 NAIA Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award. He earned a spot on the All-Appalachian Athletic Conference first team, was recognized on the NAIA PING All-Region South team and was named an NAIA PING All-American. Stevens carded eight top-five finishes in 2021-22. His most noteworthy performance came at the Maryville College Invitational, where he tied the school record for the lowest 18-hole score and set a course record. Stevens was a two-time AAC Golfer of the Week and has an adjusted Gofstat scoring average of 72.08.

Malyke Sillers- Sillers started and competed in all 13 games for the men's lacrosse team. He had a team-high 28 goals and recorded 30 points. Sillers recorded a career-high of five goals twice this season, the first against Webber International (03/11), the second against Mount Vernon Nazarene (04/05).

Nominees for Female Individual Performance of the Year

Fredricka Zetterblom- Zetterblom competed in the No. 1 position for the women's golf team in her debut season. She began her freshman campaign by winning the Skyhawks' Fall Invitational as an individual. She finished in the top-20 in all 10 tournaments the Skyhawks competed in and finished in the top-10 in seven of those 10. Zetterblom earned AAC golfer of the week on Sept. 13 and was named to the All-AAC second team.

Ana Aldana- Aldana competed in the No. 2 position for the women's golf team in her sophomore season. In 10 tournaments, Aldana had six top-10 finishes, with her highest finish coming in the Mountain Empire Intercollegiate tournament (04/11-04/12) where she finished tied in third.

Hayley Akbari- Akbari became the first woman in cross country/distance track program history to compete in the women's javelin. She recorded a college best of 23.22 meters at the AAC Championships. Along with competing in the Javelin, she also competed in the 400, 800, 1500, and 5k during her senior campaign. Akbari also was a dual-sport athlete as she was a member of the women's swim team.

Nominees for Male Individual Performance of the Year

Xavier Philips- In Point's meet on Nov. 6, Philips won two individual events and anchored a winning relay team for the Point University men's swim team, and his efforts earned him Appalachian Athletic Conference men's swimmer of the week. Philips won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.48 and won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.22. Philips joined Jaxon KiteBen Miller and Josiah Blair to win the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:24.86. Philips went on to break multiple school records during his senior campaign as he was a part of the relay teams that broke the 200 medley and 400 medley and set records individually in the 100 and 200 freestyle at the AAC Championships.

Cole Stevens- Closed out the regular season as the No. 4 golfer in the NAIA and closed out the season as the No. 21 golfer in the nation following the NAIA tournament. He finished the year as the No. 2 golfer in the AAC. Is a finalist for the 2022 NAIA Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award. He earned a spot on the All-Appalachian Athletic Conference first team, was recognized on the NAIA PING All-Region South team and was named an NAIA PING All-American. Stevens carded eight top-five finishes in 2021-22. His most noteworthy performance came at the Maryville College Invitational, where he tied the school record for the lowest 18-hole score and set a course record. Stevens was a two-time AAC Golfer of the Week and has an adjusted Gofstat scoring average of 72.71.

Brendan Porter- Porter, carded the best outing of his collegiate career on day one of the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship. Porter tied the program record for lowest 18-hole score, as he shot a 64 (7-under). Porter led the 156-player field over the first three rounds of the national championship event before finishing tied in 19th to help the men's golf team finish seventh. In 12 tournaments this season, Porter averaged a 75.91. His best finish of the year came at the Bojangles TN Intercollegiate (10/09-10/10), where he finished sixth out of 52 golfers. Porter finished the year as the No. 13 golfer in the AAC.

Nominees for Female Dual Sport Athlete of the Year

Hayley Akbari- Akbari was a member of both the women's swim team and cross country/distance track team. She became the first woman in cross country/distance track program history to compete in the women's javelin. She recorded a college best of 23.22 meters at the AAC Championships. Along with competing in the Javelin, she also competed in the 400, 800, 1500, and 5k during her senior campaign. As a member of the swim team, Akbari competed in the breaststroke.

Katie Threatt- Threatt is a member of the women's lacrosse team and women's soccer team. As a member of the women's lacrosse team, Threatt earned second-team All-AAC honors for her defensive efforts this season. Threatt led the team with 13 caused turnovers.

Victoria Cortes- Cortes is a member of the women's lacrosse team and women's soccer team. As a member of the women's lacrosse team, Cortes recorded eight goals, 10 points, 42 ground balls, 33 shots (25 on goal) and a shots on goal shooting percentage of 75.8 (team-high). During her sophomore season for women's soccer, she competed in nine games.

Nominees for Male Dual Sport Athlete of the Year

Jeremiah Menzies- Menzies is a member of the men's lacrosse team and football team. As a member of the men's lacrosse team, she recorded eight goals, nine points, 25 ground balls and 30 shots (19 on goal). For football, Menzies recorded six pass receptions for 89 yards and his longest pass received was 55 yards. He averaged 11.1 yards per game. He was named to the AAC's champions of character team.

Jordan Roberson- Roberson is a member of the men's lacrosse team and football team. As a member of the lacrosse program, Roberson played in 10 games and recorded six ground balls and two caused turnovers. As a member of the football team, Roberson registered eight solo tackles, nine assisted tackles, two sacks, 12 yards lost in sacks, one fumble recovery and averaged 1.7 tackles per game (10 games played).          

Javien Leeks- Javien Leeks is a member of the football team and men's distance track team. As a member of the football team, he played in six games and recorded two kick returns for 15 and 21 yards, respectively. For the distance track program, he became the first individual in program history to compete in the 400-yard dash at the AAC Championships. He ran the 400 in 49.68 to earn an 8th place finish at the AAC Championships and also competed on Point's 4x100 Relay team and 4x400 Relay team.

Nominees for Ms. Skyhawk

Kayla Bone- "Kayla has been one of the hardest working individuals I have had the pleasure of coaching. She truly exemplifies the responsibilities and expectations that we ask of a Skyhawk. She has served as an exceptional leader for this program and continues to develop her game while helping her teammates develop theirs. She maintained a 4.0 GPA through undergrad and her first year in the master's program, demonstrating that she is an exemplary student-athlete. Kayla is dependable and dedicated to her work in the classroom and her work on the field and I cannot think of someone more deserving of this recognition." - Head Coach Bianca Rojas

Ariyon Hightower- "Ariyon is a leader in every aspect. She walks in faith and is active in FEAST and in church. She shines bright in every life she crosses. She has a servant heart and a listening ear which is why she is friends with everyone and they all adore and respect her. She is honest, loyal, respectful, hardworking, intentional, a Christian, dependable, and more. She carries a 3.93 GPA in the classroom and works harder than anyone on the field. Ariyon defines what a student athlete should exhibit." – Head Coach Jennifer Tyler

Jasmine Griggs- "Jasmine is a great teammate and beloved by her peers. She works extremely hard and represents our program well both on the court and classroom." – Head Coach Tory Wooley

Lisa McKenzie- "Lisa is the shining light on the hill. She loves Jesus and is a true blessing to everyone she encounters. She is willing to give her heart, her time and her energy to anyone in need. Lisa has the most tender heart of anyone I have ever met. As a teammate, she will do anything for her team. Her work ethic is awesome and she does everything that is asked of her to her fullest. It is an absolute privilege to be her coach. In the classroom, Lisa is an excellent student with a 3.93 cumulative GPA. Lisa truly embodies what a Christian student-athlete should be." – Head Coach Brett Bridel

Nominees for Mr. Skyhawk

Jeff Rice- "Jeff is an amazing person on and off the field. He puts others before himself and would do anything asked of him. He is a great husband, great student, hard worker, passionate about God, great teammate, and leader. He graduated with a 3.6 GPA." – Head Coach John Tyler

Jeremiah Menzies- "Good grades, always positive, always pushing his teammates to get better on the field and in the classroom, and does everything asked of him." – Head Coach Jordan Coates

Xavier Philips- "There is no better team member on race day than Xavier Philips. He can motivate everyone on the team to race to the best of their ability. People from other teams were motivated by his positive attitude. Everyone wanted him on their team." – Head Coach Derek Kite

Brendan Porter- "Porter is a great example of Mr. Skyhawk due to his efforts both in the classroom and on the golf course. He maintains straight A's and competes all while being a CLM and a guy to look up to for his peers." – Head Coach Maddux Lytle

Nominees for Assistant Coach of the Year

Harley Taber- Offensive Line/Strength & Conditioning/Equipment Manager. Taber was in his third year this season as an assistant coach for the Point football program.

Charity Brown- Was promoted from graduate assistant entering this past season. Helped lead the team to one of the best records in program history and helped build the defense to one of the best fronts in the AAC.

Sarah Warren- Finished her 11th season as assistant coach for Point softball. Served at the helm of Point's pitching staff which finished the season with a 2.90 ERA and recorded nine shutouts.

Nominees for Head Coach of the Year

Mark Wozniak- Led the men's soccer program to its first AAC Men's Soccer Championship in program history. Made the first NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship appearance in program history. Finished the season with an 11-6-2 record and did not lose a game in the AAC tournament. Had the AAC Player of the Year who was also named to the All-AAC first team, Golden Boot recipient and earned All-American honors.

Lara Beth Griffin- Led the competitive cheer program to its second Competitive Cheer & Dance National Championship appearance in program history. This was the first time in program history the team was able to perform on the national stage as the championship was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The team finished in seventh place out of 15 teams. Had a member earn All-American honors. Earned its first win of the season at the University of Mobile on Jan. 28. Their victory earned them a No. 3 ranking in the NAIA competitive cheer poll. Point competed in two virtual competitions, earning a second-place finish in both and earned their second win of the season in a dual with Life University. The Skyhawks finished in third place at the Southeast Regionals out of 10 teams.

Maddux Lytle- Led the men's golf team to its fifth appearance at the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship. Won three tournaments during the regular season and finished runner-up in two tournaments out of the 11 tournaments participated in. Kept a top-12 ranking throughout the season and finished the year as the No. 8 team in the nation. Had two members earn All-AAC recognition, one member get named a finalist for the Jack Nicklaus Award and one earn All-American recognition. Lytle is a finalist for the Dave Williams National Coach of the year award.

Nominees for Comeback of the Year

Men's Soccer vs. TWU- In the AAC championship game, Tennessee Wesleyan entered the second half leading 2-0, but Point would battle back, scoring two goals in the second half to even the score 2-2 at the end of regulation. After two overtime periods, neither team could connect for the golden goal, and the match ended in a tie and was sent to penalty kicks. The Skyhawks connected with all five of their penalty kicks, while Julio Gomes made a defensive stop against TWU's second shot to help Point win 5-3 in PKs and advance to the national tournament.

Baseball vs. TWU- Trailing 5-0 to No. 2 Tennessee Wesleyan, Point would begin to chip away in the top of the fifth with an RBI single to left field from Connor Varnum. In the top of the seventh, the Skyhawks would tie the game, starting with an RBI single up the middle from Varnum that scored Dillon Brown to cut the Bulldogs' lead down to three (5-2). Jackson Bush would connect for a 3-run home run with two outs and tie the game 5-5. Sage McWaters and Gene Abourette would combine to hold the Bulldogs off the scoreboard, allowing the Skyhawks to score the game-winning run in the top of the ninth. Varnum would lead off with a hit by pitch and Jakobe Smith and Jackson Bush would follow with back-to-back walks. Alex Marquand would draw a bases-loaded walk with two outs, and Varnum would score to earn the lead for Point. Casten Reed would come in to earn his fifth save and help the Skyhawks to victory.

Softball vs. CIU- With two outs in the bottom of the seventh and trailing 3-2, Haley Lyner connected for a walk-off double to the left field fence, that scored Meagan Pildner and Brianna Plocharczyk to help the Point University softball win 4-3 against Columbia International University.

Nominees for Team of the Year

Men's Soccer- Won the first AAC Men's Soccer Championship in program history. Made the first NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship appearance in program history. Finished the season with an 11-6-2 record and did not lose a game in the AAC tournament. Had the AAC Player of the Year who was also named to the All-AAC first team, Golden Boot recipient and earned All-American honors.

Cheerleading- Made its second appearance at the NAIA Competitive Cheer & Dance National Championship in program history. This was the first time in program history the team was able to perform on the national stage as the championship was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The team finished in seventh place out of 15 teams. Had a member earn All-American honors. Earned its first win of the season at the University of Mobile on Jan. 28. Their victory earned them a No. 3 ranking in the NAIA competitive cheer poll. Point competed in two virtual competitions, earning a second-place finish in both and earned their second win of the season in a dual with Life University. The Skyhawks finished in third place at the Southeast Regionals out of 10 teams.

Men's Golf- Made its fifth appearance at the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship and finished in seventh place. Won three tournaments during the regular season and finished runner-up in two tournaments out of the 11 tournaments participated in. Kept a top-12 ranking throughout the season and finished the year as the No. 8 team in the nation. Had two members earn All-AAC recognition, one member get named a finalist for the Jack Nicklaus Award and one earned All-American recognition.
