Women's Soccer Shutout Point

West Point, Ga.- The women's soccer team went back on the road looking to add another Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) win to their record on Wednesday. The schedule took them to Georgia to face the Point University Skyhawks.

After two shots were saved by Laia Roch Font, the Lady Bulldogs offense took over the game. The offense produced five corner kicks and six shots in the first half. The offensive pressure came from Jamie York, Jill De Waal, and Krista Eik Hardardottir, but the firepower did not produce a goal in the first half. Font recorded her third save of the game to keep the game in a scoreless tie at the break.

The tie ended in the second half. Jordan Smith sent a ball flying from about 22 yards out to the net that the opposing goalkeeper could not stop, giving TWU a 1-0 advantage in the 55th minute. A 13-shot second half for the Lady Bulldogs helped them score two more goals in the game. The first of two goals came at the 63-minute mark when Mackenzie Gillis scored on a Hardardottir assist. The second goal of the two, representing the final goal of the contest, occurred in the 76th minute on Cristina Escrig's goal which Lucia Bonfante assisted on. The shutout remained as Tennessee Wesleyan won the contest 3-0.

This was the third shutout of the season for the Lady Bulldogs.
