Women’s Soccer unable to surge past the Nighthawks
THOMASVILLE, Ga. (Oct. 14, 2023) - The Point Women's Soccer team returned to the field for a Southern States Athletic Conference matchup against Thomas University, where the Skyhawks fell 8-0 on the road.
The first half started with both teams looking to get settled into their offense by taking early shots on goal. Thomas struck the scoreboard first to lead 1-0. The momentum of the first goal helped keep the Skyhawks scoreless as the Nighthawks scored their second goal to go into the break, leading 2-0.
Thomas' offense pushed their lead further as the Nighthawks started the second half to lead 3-0. Point continued to find ways to halt the momentum of the Nighthawks, but the energy from Thomas kept the Nighthawks ahead. Thomas added fuel to the fire by scoring the following three goals to bring it to a 6-0 lead. The Nighthawks scored the final two goals of the match, shutout Point with an 8-0 score.

Alyssa Bennett and Brooke Wiseley were the lone players that took a shot on goal in the matchup. In goal, Kelly Rowland finished with nine saves on the evening.
