Women’s lacrosse falls to No. 7 SCAD Savannah

WEST POINT, Ga. (March 26, 2022) – The Point University women's lacrosse team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent SCAD Savannah inside River Bowl Stadium Saturday afternoon and lost 17-3. 

Point found themselves down early as SCAD scored the first seven goals of the contest, but an unassisted goal by Kelli Grimsley would put the Skyhawks on the board. At the end of the first quarter, the Skyhawks trailed 8-1. Point was held scoreless in the second and third quarters while the Bees added seven goals and entered the final frame ahead 15-1. Grimsley scored her second goal of the game just 2:30 into the fourth quarter to make the score 15-2. Sydney Hanna scored her first and the Skyhawks' final goal, with 7:47 left in the contest. SCAD scored twice in the final frame to earn the 17-3 victory.

The Skyhawks were led offensively by Grimsley, who took four shots, all on goal, scored two goals, and added three ground balls. Hanna took two shots, both on goal, and scored one goal. The Skyhawks finished with 11 shots, 10 on goal, and 10 ground balls. In goal, Kayla Bone recorded 18 saves.
