Point Softball taken down by Brenau on the road

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (Feb. 20, 2024- The Point University Softball team returned to the field for a nonconference doubleheader against former Appalachian Athletic Conference foe, Brenau University where the Skyhawks fell in a sweep with final scores of 7-1 and 8-4. 

Game One (7-1, Loss) 

Brenau opened the second inning with the first run being a sacrifice fly to score their first runner home in the result. The Golden Tigers followed with a single to third base and a single to left field which added two more runs to lead 3-0 in the early going. The last run in the second inning came from a passed ball to end the inning with a four-run lead. As Brenau added another run, Skye Loftin put the Skyhawks on the scoreboard by advancing home off a passed ball from Brenau. The Golden Tigers finished Game One by adding two more runs from a single to center field and a sacrifice fly to win 7-1. 

Game Two (8-4, Loss) 

The Skyhawks fell to an early two-run lead after the Golden Tigers added two hits that resulted in scoring. Brenau continued to add pressure by tacking on two more runs in the second inning which brought their lead to 4-0. Point responded by loading the bases in the third inning and walking Skye Loftin who scored Savanna Bryant. Point followed with their second run as Tia Coleman singled towards the shortstop to bring the speed of Ramsey Clark home which added their second run of the inning. The Skyhawks brought Brenau's lead to one point as Point loaded the bases again in the fourth inning and scored Savanna Bryant home for the second time bringing the score to 4-3. The Golden Tigers followed by adding four runs in the following two innings to extend their lead to 8-3. Ramsey Clark smacked a single to right field to score Tia Coleman home but Point would be unable to add any more runs which caused the sweep by Brenau.
