Ashlynn Hamm’s big weekend earns her AAC Pitcher of the Week; Haley Lyner follows with her second AAC Player of the Week honor

WEST POINT, Ga. (Mar. 27, 2023)- Ashlynn Hamm and Haley Lyner swept the conference awards as the Appalachian Athletic Conference announced Hamm as the AAC Pitcher of the Week along with Lyner as the AAC Player of the Week.  

Hamm stepped up to the plate in the big moment as she came in as a relief pitcher in Game one against Milligan University on Saturday, March 25, to help the Skyhawks secure the win. The senior pitcher from Chilton County, Ala., would continue to show her confidence in the circle as she carried her momentum to Game two against the Buffs, where she secured the win as the Skyhawks run-ruled Milligan. Hamm went 3-0 with one save on the week, allowed six hits and seven walks, and allowed one earned run for a 0.45 ERA. Ashlynn Hamm has mentioned that she is used to the big moments, and the Skyhawks have had many significant moments here lately, as the softball team is on an eight-game winning streak with four consecutive sweeps. This is her first weekly honor of the season. 

Lyner has earned her second weekly honor of the season as AAC Player of the Week as the Skyhawks went 6-0 on the week. She batted .550 throughout the week, drove in 13 runs, and scored eight. The senior center fielder from Oxford, Ala. The dominant play at bat by adding two home runs and one double for a 0.900 slugging percentage with two stolen bases. Haley Lyner has become a nightmare for teams when she comes to bat and has the will to do whatever it takes to help the team to win. As mentioned earlier, this is Lyner’s second time winning this award this season, as she was named player of the week on February 20.
