Kayla Wyatt’s work ethic recognized as she earns AAC Softball Player of the Week

WEST POINT, Ga. (Apr. 10, 2023)- The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced Kayla Wyatt as the AAC Softball Player of the Week for Apr. 10.

Wyatt batted .600 and helped Point go 4-2 on the week. She drove in four runs and scored on two runs. Wyatt also had one double for a .700 slugging percentage as she has become more locked in at-bat with putting pressure on opposing pitchers. On Thursday, April 6th, Wyatt proved that she could thrive in the big moment with Point being tied 1-1 against the Knights in game two and getting the walk-off RBI to bring Gabrielle Riley home as the Skyhawks took the win over St. Andrews. As the Sports Information team caught up with Kayla Wyatt for the postgame interview, she mentioned, "I always have a job to do whether it is on the plate or the field. I will work hard for my team and make it known.” Wyatt’s work ethic has not gone unnoticed, as she is a player that is always willing to go the extra mile for the team each time she steps on the field. “Truthfully, I have been just trusting my hands and not doing anything too much while also being aggressive early in the count.” This is the first weekly honor of the season for Kayla Wyatt as she looks to help Point softball finish the regular season on a high note and make a big run in the AAC Tournament. She will take each game one moment at a time, starting with the Skyhawks looking to take care of business on the road against Clark Atlanta for a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, April 12.
