Swim competes at Brenau

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (Nov. 6, 2021) – The Point University men's and women's swimming teams competed in Gainesville, Georgia, Saturday afternoon, with the men facing Piedmont and the women competing against Piedmont and Brenau. The men fell to the Lions of Piedmont 111-81, and the women fell to Piedmont 118-18 and Brenau 105-18.

Xavier Philips and Jaxon Kite finished with two wins apiece to lead the men's side. Philips finished first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.48 and in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.22. Kite's wins came in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.90 and the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.00. Kite and Philips were both a part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team that also included Ben Miller and Josiah Blair. Point won with a time of 3:24.86.

In the men's 200 medley relay, the team of Philips, Kite, Will Kelly and Miller fell to Piedmont by .20 of a second, finishing with a time of 1:44.48.

Blair also helped lead Point with second-place finishes in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle.

On the women's side, Nica Pretorius and Taylor Sturgis competed in three events apiece. Pretorius competed in the 50 freestyle, earning a fifth-place finish, in the 100 butterfly, earning a fourth-place finish and the 500 freestyle, earning a third-place finish.

Sturgis competed in the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, and 200 freestyle, finishing ninth, fifth, and fourth, respectively.

Next, Point will host the Georgia Small College Champs meet in Columbus, Georgia, Nov. 19-20.
