Men’s swim wins weekend meet

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Nov. 2, 2021) – The Point University swimming team competed in Columbia, South Carolina, Saturday, with the men facing St. Andrews and the women competing against St. Andrews and Columbia. The men defeated St. Andrews 142-45, and the women fell to St. Andrews 108-33 and lost to Columbia 90-47.

Xavier Philips dominated on the men's side, winning four individual races and anchored the 200 medley relay team to victory. Philips won the 50 freestyle, 50 butterfly, 50 breaststroke, and 500 freestyle. The 200 medley relay team that Philips anchored included Josiah Blair, William Kelly, and Jaxon Kite.

Kite went on to win the 200 IM, 100 IM and finish runner-up behind Philips in the 50 butterfly. Kelly won the 100 breaststroke and was runner-up behind Philips in the 50 breaststroke. Blair won the 100 backstroke and finished runner-up behind Kite in the 100 IM. Ben Miller was the final Skyhawk to win an individual event, winning the 100 freestyle. He was runner-up behind Philips in the 50 freestyle.

On the women's side, Nica Pretorius highlighted Point with a second-place finish in the 100 IM.

Up next, the Skyhawks will travel to Gainesville, Georgia, to compete against Brenau and Piedmont on Saturday, Nov. 6. For a complete list of results from this past Saturday's meet, click here.
