Swim competes at Thomas University

THOMASVILLE, Ga. (Oct. 21, 2021) – The Point University men's and women's swimming teams traveled to Thomas University this past Saturday for the men to compete in a Double Dual matchup against Thomas University and South Georgia State College and for the women to face Thomas University.

On the men's side, Thomas beat Point 171-52 and South Georgia State College defeated the Skyhawks 105-84. On the women's side, Thomas defeated Point 130-32.

The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team comprised of Ben Miller, Jaxon Kite, Josiah Blair and Xavier Philips earned Point's only event victory as the team finished with a time of 1:32.04.

Kite highlighted the men's team with solid performances in the 50-yard freestyle, where he earned a second-place finish, with a time of 22.73, which was one-hundredth of a second behind the winner. Kite went on to earn a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.29 and helped lead the 200-yard medley relay team of Blair, Will Kelly and Philips to a second-place finish with a time of 1:44.46.

On the women's side, Taylor Sturgis earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:30.34 and was followed by Hayley Akbari in third with a time of 2:32.88. Akbari went on to earn a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:31.19.

Nica Pretorius earned second-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle with times of 28.09 and 1:03.18, respectively.
