Skyhawks fly past the Royals in AAC matchup

WEST POINT, Ga. (Oct. 8, 2022) - The Point University men's soccer team took the field Saturday afternoon for an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup against Johnson University and exploded for the victory with a score of 7-1.

14 seconds was all it took for the Skyhawks to jump on the scoreboard first as Lucas Van Batenburg scored off an assist from Max Paul Busnel to set the tone for the match. The Skyhawks continued their fast start as Busnel scored the next two goals to push Point to a quick 3-0 lead going into halftime with all the momentum on their side.

The second half started on a positive note for the Royals with a quick score in the first three minutes to now trail 3-1. The Skyhawks remained calm and continued their offensive attack by taking numerous shots on goal. Tommy Eskew joined the scoring club by adding two goals to push their lead to 5-1. As the game seemed to be out of reach, Point continued to show teamwork as Eskew assisted a goal to Fabian Saborio. Two minutes later, Diego Matarrita set Pablo Gamboa up for another goal to end the match with a final score of 7-1.
