NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship Day Two: Porter leads the field; Skyhawks in third

SILVIS, Ill. (May 18, 2022) – Brendan Porter continued his dominant performance Wednesday afternoon to help the No. 10/11 Point University men's golf team to a third-place position entering round three of the 70th annual NAIA Men's Golf National Championship.

The Skyhawks entered day two tied in first with Keiser University. Both teams dropped out of first after Dalton State jumped 10 places in round two to take over the No. 1 spot. The Roadrunners lead the field with a 2-round score of 560 (8-under par). Keiser is in second with a 2-round score of 562 (6-under par), and the Skyhawks are in third with a 564 (4-under par).

The top 17 teams advanced to day three of the tournament, as 12 teams were sent home following the second round. Appalachian Athletic Conference member Reinhardt finished the second round tied in 14th.

Porter nearly matched his career-low he shot yesterday, which tied the national championship's lowest single-round score, as he shot a 65 (6-under par). Porter enters day three with a 2-round score of 129 (13-under par) and leads the field of individuals by two strokes. Porter leads the field in par 3s at 5-under par and in birdies with 15.

Jaden Saunders finished the second round tied in 37th as he shot for par (71) and enters day three with a 2-round score of 144 (2-over par).

Cole Stevens and Trevor Poole are both tied in 56th. Stevens shot a 76 and Poole shot a 73. They each have an overall score of 146 (4-over par).

Dominik Wolf shot a 75 and has an overall score of 150 (8-over par). He enters the third round tied in 94th.

Round three of the national championship event will begin tomorrow, May 19, at TPC Deere Run.
