NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship: Porter, Skyhawks lead the field after day one

SILVIS, Ill. (May 17, 2022) — Brendan Porter carded the best outing of his collegiate career to lead the No. 10/11 Point University men's golf team to first place on day one of the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship.

The Skyhawks are tied in first with No. 1 Keiser. Both teams finished with a score of 280 (4-under).

Porter tied the program record for lowest 18-hole score, as he shot a 64 (7-under). Porter is in a three-way tie for first along with Sebastien Tremulot from Wayland Baptist and Jonathan Douglas from Morningside University. The sophomore leads the field of 155 with eight birdies.

Cole Stevens carded a 70 (1-under) and finished day one in a 16-way tie for 18th.

Trevor Poole and Jaden Saunders followed tied in 65th, as they both shot a 73 (2-over). Dominik Wolf rounded out the Skyhawks tied in 90th at 4-over.

The four day tournament is being held at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. Day two of the tournament will begin tomorrow, with the Skyhawks teeing off at 11:50 a.m. CT.
