No. 8 men’s golf finishes fourth at Oldfield Classic

OKATIE, S.C. (March 29, 2022) – The No. 8 Point University men's golf team traveled to Okatie, S.C., to compete in the Monument Golf Oldfield Classic Monday and Tuesday and finished in fourth place out of 12 teams.

Tournament Notes

  • Point finished with a tournament score of 904 (+40)
  • The Skyhawks shot rounds of 294, 302 and 308
  • The Skyhawks defeated Appalachian Athletic Conference foes Reinhardt and Truett McConnell, who finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
  • The tournament featured five programs (including Point) ranked in the latest NAIA Men's Golf Coaches' Top 25 Poll. No. 2 USCB, No. 3 Coastal Georgia, No. 12 Reinhardt, and No. 13 Dalton State
  • USCB won the tournament with a score of 875. Dalton State came in second (881) and Coastal Georgia finished third (886). Following the Skyhawks was University of the Cumberlands in fifth, Reinhardt, TMU, SCAD-Atlanta, Webber International, CIU, Ave Maria, and Columbia.

Individual Finishes

  • Cole Stevens led the Skyhawks, finishing tied in second individually and earning medalist honors. He finished 2-over with rounds of 72, 71 and 75 (218).
  • Trevor Poole finished in 23rd, shooting 13-over with rounds of 76, 78 and 75 (229).
  • Brendan Porter and Dominik Wolf finished tied in 25th place, shooting 15-over (231).
  • Jaden Saunders finished tied in 34th, shooting 17-over (233).
  • Matthew Campbell and Hayden Johnson played as individuals and finished in 54th and 63rd, respectively.
