No. 8/9 men’s golf finishes second in home tournament
PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (March 8, 2022) – The Point University men's golf team hosted their annual Skyhawk Spring Invitational this past Monday and Tuesday and finished in second place with a tournament score of 899.
The Skyhawks finished behind No. 22 Reinhardt. Both teams shot a 293 in the third round, but the Eagles finished the second round 11 strokes ahead of Point to earn the advantage.
Due to inclement weather, the men were unable to complete the second round on Monday and had to resume play Tuesday morning. The Skyhawks finished the second round with a score of 308 and entered the final round of action in fifth place. The Skyhawks finished with the highest third-round score (along with Reinhardt) to jump three spots and earn a second-place finish.
Tournament notes
- Sixteen teams competed in Point's home invitational with the Skyhawks and Indiana Wesleyan, each bringing a B team, and seven individuals competed.
- Reinhardt won the tournament with a final score of 890 (nine strokes ahead of Point).
- No. 25 Lindsey Wilson finished in third place.
- No. 16 Tennessee Wesleyan finished in fourth place.
- No. 11 Morningside finished in fifth place.
- No. 3 Southeastern finished in sixth.
- Point's B team finished in 15th place with a tournament score of 984.
Individual finishes
- Cole Stevens earned a third-place finish with rounds of 76, 74, 68 (+2).
- Dominik Wolf finished tied in 14th with rounds of 71, 80, 76 (+11).
- Trevor Poole finished tied in 18th with rounds of 76, 78, 74 (+12).
- Zandre Labuschagne finished tied in 21st with rounds of 78, 76, 78 (+13).
- Jaden Saunders finished tied in 37th with rounds of 78, 74, 80 (+16).
- Brendan Porter finished tied in 40th with rounds of 75, 81, 77 (+17).
- Matthew Campbell finished tied in 72nd (+33).
- Hayden Johnson finished in 76th (+35).
- Dawson Smith finished in 80th (+40).
- Max Henson finished in 81st (+42).
- Logan Gosdin finished in 82nd (+43).
- Ludson Maduro finished tied in 84th (+48).
