Poole finishes first individually; No. 12 men's golf finishes third in Keiser Kup 

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. (Oct. 26, 2021) – Trevor Poole recorded five birdies in round three of the Keiser Kup to earn a first-place overall finish and lead the No. 12 Point University men's golf team to a third-place finish Tuesday afternoon.

Keiser University hosted the tournament at Mission Inn Resort's El Campeon Course.

Point shot a round one score of 304 to enter the second round in third, but the Skyhawks shot a 314 in the second round and dropped to fifth. The Skyhawks used a strong comeback on day two, with a third-round score of 297, to finish the tournament in third. Point had an overall tournament score of 915 (51-over par).

No. 1 Keiser won the tournament with a score of 888 (24-over par) and No. 6 Southeastern finished in second with a score of 912 (48-over par). The tournament featured six nationally-ranked teams, with No. 22 SCAD Savannah finishing in fourth, No. 4 Coastal Georgia in fifth and No. 2 USC Beaufort in sixth.

After shooting an even-par in the first round, Poole led the field but dropped to sixth after carding a 77 in the second round. Poole returned on day two and shot 2-under par to earn a first-place finish. Poole shot a tournament score of 219 (72, 77, 70) and finished 3-over par.

Sophomore Cole Stevens finished tied in 16th place with a tournament score of 230 (76, 79, 75) and was 14-over par. Brendan Porter and Zandre Labuschagne finished tied for 23rd place at 17-over par each. Porter shot rounds of 76, 80, 77 and Labuschagne carded rounds of 80, 78, 75. Rounding out the Skyhawks was Matthew Campbell, who finished tied for 52nd with a tournament score of 260.

With the conclusion of the fall season, Point will be back in action in the spring of 2022.
