Men’s Basketball unable to soar past the Eagles at home

WEST POINT, Ga. (Feb. 17, 2024) - The Point Men's Basketball returned to action for a Southern States Athletic Conference matchup against Faulkner University where the Skyhawks fell to the Eagles 86-72.  

The Skyhawks opened the game by an early 15-7 deficit by going on a 9-0 run to tie the game at 16. Kenton Steele's layup in the lane put the Skyhawks ahead which was followed by a jumper from Robert Kendrick and Mike Evans. Point continued their shooting as Robert Kendrick added a three-pointer to bring their lead to 33-27. Faulkner charged back with a 15-0 run to end the first half with a 42-33 lead. Theron Montgomery and Sam Rees opened the second half with the first scores of the half to trail by six. Point continued to climb back as Joshua Scott added a layup. Faulkner added a 10-0 run but a Mike Evans three-pointer slowed it down. The Skyhawks continued to fight their way back through the half as Robert Kendrick cut the lead of Faulkner to 10. Justice Hayes added fuel to the fire as he added a three-pointer to bring the score to 73-66 with 2:09 left. Faulkner added an 8-0 run to help close out the game 86-71. 

In the Box 

Mike Evans led with 24 Points, three assists, and two rebounds. Robert Kendrick added 21 Points, eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Theron Montgomery 11 Points, Seven rebounds, and two assists.

The Skyhawks will travel to Cochran, Georgia for their final road game at Middle Georgia State University on Wednesday, February 21st at 7:30 P.M.
