Men’s Basketball iced by Middle Georgia in home SSAC Play

WEST POINT, Ga. (Feb. 3, 2024) - The Point University Men's Basketball returned to the court for a Saturday afternoon matchup in Southern States Athletic Conference play against Middle Georgia State University where the Skyhawks fell to the Knights with a final score of 83-61. 

Middle Georgia opened the first half with a 6-0 lead but Sam Rees would score the first points for the Skyhawks with a three-pointer and two free throws. The Knights jumped to an early 17-7 lead over the Skyhawks as Point looked to get their offense going. Middle Georgia continued to ride their momentum with a 23-9 run to bring their lead to 46-21. The Skyhawks would go into the half trailing 48-22 looking to regroup.  

Myles McClain and John Williams opened the second half with the first two layups for Point. The Knights followed their offensive tear with another 11-3 run. Justice Hayes, Sam Rees, and Vince Graves scored the following nine points on three triples. Point continued to move the ball more in the second half and add energy with multiple scoring trips on the offensive end which included two highlight-worthy dunks from Vince Graves. Point scored their final six points on two triples with Robert Kendrick and Justice Hayes knocking down the shots but Middle Georgia pulled away with an 83-61 win.

Justice Hayes led with 14 Points, four rebounds, and two assists. Vince Graves followed with nine points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Men's Basketball will return to road play in the SSAC as the Skyhawks travel to North Mississippi for a matchup with Blue Mountain Christian University on Thursday, February 8th starting at 7:30 P.M.
