Men’s Basketball taken down by the Wolfpack at home

WEST POINT, Ga. (Nov. 30, 2023) - The Point University Men's Basketball team returned to the court for their first game after Thanksgiving for a Thursday Night Matchup against (RV) Loyola University-New Orleans where the Skyhawks fell 81-63. 

Robert Kendrick started the game with two three-pointers to put Point ahead 6-0. The Wolfpack responded with a three-pointer but Theron Montgomery extended the Skyhawks' lead with the following two layups to bring Point's lead to 10-5. After another layup from Robert Kendrick, Loyola scored the following five baskets to take the lead by three. Jeremiah Smith wiped the lead away with a three-pointer but the Wolfpack responded with a jump shot to bring the score 17-15. Jeremiah Both teams traded layups on the following three possessions as Point tied the game at 19 after the layup from Theron Montgomery. Loyola followed with a 12-3 run to bring their lead to double digits before Robert Kendrick scored on an and-one layup along with a converted free throw to bring the score to 32-26. Kendrick followed with another strong take to the lane and Jeremiah Smith followed with his second three-pointer to bring Loyola's to 32-31. The Wolfpack ended the half on a positive note as Loyola went on an 8-0 run to lead 40-31 at the half. 

The second half began with a familiar start to the first half with Robert Kendrick coming out the gate with a three-pointer. Theron Montgomery and Robert Kendrick followed the following two layups before the Wolfpack responded with their own. Theron Montgomery went to work in the post as he drove through the contact for the and-one layup along with converting on the free throw. Loyola looked to move their lead along but Robert Kendrick flashed through the lane for his another take. Point brought the game to three points as Jacob Crockett entered the frenzy with a three-pointer to bring the score to 49-46. Loyola retaliated by going on a 13-1 run before Mike Evans scored the layup to halt the run from the Wolfpack. As the half continued, Mike Evans scored back-to-back three-pointers along with Kenton Steele and Evans scoring the last basket of the half where Point fell 81-63. 

In the Box 

Robert Kendrick led with 20 Points, four rebounds and three assists. Mike Evans followed with 12 Points along with Theron Montgomery adding 11 Points and one block.
