WEST POINT, Ga. (Oct. 26, 2023) - The Point University Men's Basketball team returned to the court for a nonconference matchup which also served as their season home opener in the West Point Park Gymnasium against Vorhees University where the Skyhawks took the win with a final score of 67-53.

The Tigers jumped on the scoreboard for the 2-0 lead but it did not take long for the Skyhawks to respond as Myles McClain scored on the mid-range jumper which was followed by the dunk from Theron Montgomery. Vorhees looked to continue to settle down against the defense of Point but the Skyhawks continued to add pressure which was an advantage to run the floor as Theron Montgomery scored on the putback layup. Coming out of the timeout, the Tigers tied the game with a three-pointer but Robert Kendrick responded with a layup to put the Skyhawks back ahead by two. The steal from Kenton Steele helped him successfully finish with a fastbreak layup. Mike Evans followed with a mid-range jumper to extend the lead 15-9 but the Tigers responded with the following two scores to trail by two. Two made free throws from Jacob Crockett helped Point move ahead by four until Vorhees brought the game to 17-15. Crockett followed on the fastbreak three-pointer which was assisted by Myles McClain. Ashton Nance put the Skyhawks' lead to 10 with the tip-in and the speed of Myles McClain extended the score to 27-15 with under five minutes left in the half. Justice Hayes and Joshua Scott helped Point continue to add points on the scoreboard by scoring the following two layups and Scott would score the final basket of the half as Point went into the break leading 34-21.

The second half started with Myles McClain scoring on the triple. Point's lead jumped to 21 as Justice Hayes and Joshua Scott continued to attack the paint with consecutive layups. Vorhees took the following eight scores to now trail 52-38 but a layup from Theron Montgomery halted the possible run from Vorhees.
