Point Football makes the clean sweep for AAC Football Players of the Week

WEST POINT, Ga. (Sept. 11, 2023) - The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced the AAC Football Players of the Week for the week ending Sept. 10. Following the win on Saturday, September 9, against Thomas University, the Skyhawks made a clean sweep by winning each category for the players of the week with Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams.

Kemorion Larkin- AAC Defensive Player of the Week

Key Larkin has started the 2023-24 season with high expectations and is living up to each of them. Larkin was named an AAC All-Conference Second Team Player in the 2022-23 season, where he tallied 57 total tackles, two sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and five tackles for loss. Three games into the new season, Larkin already sits at 31 tackles, one sack, and three pass breakups. He had his game to date with 13 tackles, one sack, and two pass breakups. The Junior from Rochelle, Georgia, knows he can play a more prominent role for the Skyhawk defense and is looking to continue his high IQ play to help the defense surge to another level as Point looks to continue their season. This is Larkin’s first weekly honor.

Mitchell Gossett- AAC Offensive Player of the Week

Mitchell Gossett has taken his role as the signal caller severely, as he knows he wants success for the Skyhawks. After seeing time as a starter in the 2022-23 season, Gossett came into the season as the starting quarterback. Gossett passed for 1,007 yards with nine touchdowns and four interceptions. Mitchell Gossett had his best game on Saturday, September 9th, as he passed for 267 yards with two touchdowns and had zero turnovers. The dual sport athlete is a confident player on the AAC Football watch list and shows why he is a guy you have to look out for. The Junior from Pell City, Alabama, wants to continue his dominant play on the field as Point prepares for their road trip to Kentucky. With the offensive weapons around him, Gossett can get it done. This is the first weekly honor of his career.

Matthew Moses- AAC Special Teams Player of the Week

Matthew Moses is a student-athlete with a big personality and is unique on the field as a punter. Moses is tallying his third player of the week, honoring his career, and making a case for being the best punter in Skyhawk history. The sophomore from McDonough, Georgia, loves to have fun and cheer on his teammates, but when he steps on the field, he means business each time. Moses averaged 36.0 yards per punt while punting four times for 144 yards. He also placed two punts inside the 20. Moses is still looking to do more damage, but with this honor, he can continue making his case for one of the best in the country.
