#11 Lindsey Wilson hands Skyhawks road loss

COLUMBIA, Ky. (September 16, 2023) – The Point University football team went on the road to the Bluegrass State to take on #11 Lindsey Wilson College. The Skyhawks would fall by a score of 57-7.

The game unfolded with Lindsey Wilson taking control early in the first quarter. Jbias Dawson caught a 14-yard pass from Ethan Cash, followed by a successful kick by Harris Nichols, putting Lindsey Wilson ahead 7-0. They extended their lead further with a team safety to make it 9-0.

In the second quarter, Point University showed signs of life when Payton Allen connected with Emery Bryant on a 58-yard touchdown pass, with Matthew Moses successfully converting the extra point. That would be Bryant's fourth touchdown reception of the 2023 season. However, Lindsey Wilson responded with authority, scoring three more touchdowns. Michael Burdick, Quantae Hicks, and Harris Nichols each contributed to Lindsey Wilson's lead, which also included a 45-yard field goal by Nichols.

In the third quarter, Lindsey Wilson continued to dominate, with Davontaye Saund's 29-yard touchdown run and Darius Willis J's 28-yard interception return, although the two-point conversion attempts failed.

The fourth quarter witnessed one more Lindsey Wilson touchdown as Griffin Swinea ran for a 9-yard score, with Reid Brickey successfully converting the two-point rush.

Looking at individual statistics for Point University, Payton Allen completed 5 out of 17 passes for 90 yards, including a touchdown but was intercepted three times. Trey Turner led the rushing attack with 16 yards on 6 carries, and Emery Bryant stood out as the top receiver with 75 yards on 3 receptions, including a touchdown. On the defensive side, several Point University players contributed with tackles and sacks, but they faced a formidable Lindsey Wilson offense. Overall, it was a challenging game for Point University as Lindsey Wilson College showcased a strong performance, securing a convincing victory with a final score of 57-7.

Next Game: The football team will have a BYE WEEK coming up next weekend. Saturday, September 30, the Skyhawks will head back to the Bluegrass State to take on Kentucky Christian University in Grayson, Ky. The kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 P.M.
