Baseball drops nonconference matchup with Faulkner

WEST POINT, Ga. (March 22, 2022) – The Point University baseball team hosted Faulkner University Tuesday evening in a nonconference matchup in West Point, and fell to the Eagles 19-2.

The Eagles started fast, scoring seven runs in the first inning. Alex Marquand connected for a solo home run in the bottom of the frame, but the Eagles added five runs in the third and two runs in the fourth to extend its lead out 14-1.

The Skyhawks would score once again in the bottom of the fourth with a bases-loaded walk to II Zadod Gabriel to bring home Zebediah Baird, but that was all the scoring the Eagles would allow as Faulkner went on to extend its lead with five runs in the top of the sixth.

Point had four hits, with Gabriel, Jackson Breal, Baird and Marquand all tallying a hit.

Point returns to action on Friday as the Skyhawks open their Appalachian Athletic Conference series with Kentucky Christian University. The Skyhawks and Knights will play the doubleheader portion of the series on Friday, with first pitch of game one scheduled for 2 p.m. and with game three scheduled for Saturday, at 12 p.m.
