Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

What is SAAC?

The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Point University is a leadership committee of dedicated student-athletes chosen to assist in enhancing the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare, and fostering a positive student-athlete image.

Purpose:

SAAC is in place for the purposes of:

1.     Providing a communication link between student-athletes and the athletic administration

2.     Encouraging communication and unity among and between all athletes and teams

3.     Serving as a focus group for programming related to leadership, career, health, and core values  

4.     Increasing involvement and awareness of athletic programs on campus and in the community

Responsibilities and Expectations:

1.   Attend all committee meetings and contribute to the conversation

• Advanced notice of absence must be given in writing to the VP of Administration at least two days prior

2.  Represent the team's views, opinions, and voice in meetings

3.  Keep team and coach current on SAAC issues

4.  Respond to requests of department, institution, conference, and national office

5.  Encourage team members to assist with any projects deemed significant by the committee

6.  Conduct myself as a positive ambassador of the athletics department and institution

7. The following guidelines must be met to remain eligible for this honored position:

• Members must participate in a minimum of two SAAC events each year
• Members must maintain a minimum of a 2.75 GPA
• Members must inspire their team to participate in sponsored events
• Members must strive for compassionate collaboration and unity within the athletics department
• Members must have less than two unexcused and valid absences

8.  Upperclassmen are expected to mentor their underclassmen teammate members of SAAC
