Skyhawks dominate Johnson

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 9, 2021) – Six members of the Point University women's soccer team found the back of the net Saturday afternoon, cruising their way to a 7-0 victory over Appalachian Athletic Conference newcomers Johnson University.

With the win, the Skyhawks advance to 4-6-1 (4-3-1 AAC).

The Skyhawks' offense went right to work, scoring two goals in the first six minutes of action, the first goal came from Jasmine Mathis, from an assist by Carmen Kager, and the second was from Keiry Bonilla. Point scored three more goals in the first half, from Marissa Amaya, assisted by Kager, Bonilla and Alyssa Bennett, assisted by Vanessa Lara.

Point padded their lead in the second half with two more goals, the first from Nathaly Villalobos, assisted by Lara and the last goal of the day coming from Tamia Jones.

Point outshot the Lions 16-3 in the first half and 25-9 in the second.

Next, Point will be back in action at River Bowl Stadium as they face Georgia Gwinnett for a nonconference matchup on Tuesday, Oct. 12. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
