Skyhawks fall to No. 24 TMU

CLEVELAND, Ga. (Sept. 15, 2021) – Point University's women's soccer team hit the road to face No. 24 Truett McConnell Wednesday evening in an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup and fell to the Bears 6-1.

Point faced pressure from Truett's offense all game, as the Bears took 34 shots while the Skyhawks could only muster four. Goalkeeper Erica Burkhardt started strong facing 15 first half shots, saving eight, and only allowing one goal, which came in the 34th minute.

The Bears extended their lead exponentially in the second half, connecting for five goals. Point, however, avoided the shutout with Carmen Kager connecting for a goal from Tamia Jones in the 71st minute.

The Bears have only allowed three AAC opponent goals spanning from last year to this year, and Kager is now responsible for scoring two of those goals, as she connected for Point's lone goal in last season's matchup versus TMU.

Up next, the Skyhawks will return home to River Bowl Stadium for an AAC matchup against Milligan on Saturday, Sept. 18. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
