Skyhawks fall on the road to Middle Georgia State

COCHRAN, Ga. (Sept. 1, 2021) – The Point University women's soccer team traveled to face Middle Georgia State Wednesday night in an originally scheduled match for Tuesday and fell to the Knights 3-0.

After nearly 35 minutes of play, the Knights connected for a goal in the 34th minute to enter the half ahead 1-0. The Knights would score two goals in the second half, both coming in the final minutes of the game, with the first goal finding the back of the net in the 81st minute and the second in the 87th minute. Three different players scored all three goals for the Knights.

The Knights outshot the Skyhawks 28-3. Carmen Kager, Keiry Bonilla and Alyssa Bennett each took a shot for Point. In goal, Erica Burkhardt made 12 saves.

Up next, the Skyhawks will return home to River Bowl Stadium to face Thomas University on Sunday, Sept. 5. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
