Women’s golf finishes eighth in home tournament

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (March 8, 2022) – The Point University women's golf team rounded out day two of the Skyhawk Spring Invitational at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga., and finished in eighth place out of 12 teams.

The Skyhawks finished day one in 10th place and shot 10-under from yesterday's score to jump two spots. Ana Aldana and Fredrick Zetterblom led Point, tied in 17th to finish 20-over on the tournament. Aldana shot rounds of 81 and 79, and Zetterblom shot two 80s.

Peyton Woody finished tied for 58th place after shooting a 91 on the day. She finished 47-over with a score of 187. Abigail Evans followed in 62nd shooting as she shot a 100 on the day to finish the tournament 50-over. Alexis Guzman finished the tournament in 65th (+66), Alyssa Davis finished 66th (+76) and Kiri Maddux finished in 67th.

Sofia Fousek only competed in the second round and shot an 87.

No. 7 Southeastern won the tournament, No. 13 SCAD-Atlanta and Truett McConnell tied for second place, No. 18 Milligan finished in fourth and No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan finished in fifth.

Up next, Point will compete in the Golden Tiger Invitational March 14-15, in Gainesville, Ga., hosted by Brenau University.
