Skyhawks finish third in Firehawk Invitational

ATHENS, Ala. (Oct. 6, 2021) – The Point University women's golf team competed in the Firehawk Invitational Monday and Tuesday and finished the tournament in third place with a score of 938.

The tournament was held at the Canebrake Golf Club and was hosted by UT Southern.

Three Skyhawks earned top-10 finishes, led by freshman Fredricka Zetterblom who continued her standout season with a sixth-place individual finish. Zetterblom had rounds of 71, 80, 73 to combine for a tournament score of 224 (8-over par).

Freshman Sophia Fousek earned a ninth-place finish with rounds of 77, 75, 77. Fousek carded a 229 (13-over par). Sophomore Ana Aldana rounded out the Skyhawks in the top-10 with rounds of 79, 75, 80 to earn a tournament score of 234 (18-over par).

Freshman Abigail Evans finished in 21st place with a tournament score of 251, and sophomore Peyton Woody finished in 26th after carding rounds of 86, 88, 97.

No. 7 William Carey won the tournament, shooting 22-over par with a score of 886, and No. 12 Loyola finished in second with a tournament score of 890.

Up next, Point will turn its attention to the Appalachian Athletic Conference Fall Championship that takes place Oct. 25-26 at Barnsley Gardens in Adairsville, Georgia.
