Zetterblom finishes first individually; Skyhawks runners-up at home invitational

LANETT, Ala. (Sept. 12, 2021) – The Point University women's golf team opened the 2021-22 season by hosting the annual Fall Skyhawk Invitational on Saturday and Sunday and finished in second, with freshman Fredricka Zetterblom finishing individually in first place.

"I am thrilled with the way our girls performed this weekend," Head Coach Gregory Boling said. "They have been practicing hard. They have bought in with playing for one another, and it showed by their strong finish. Having a runner-up finish in our own tournament is big for us. I am proud of every team member. I am also proud of the way Frederika played by being low medalist. We will try to build on this performance and continue to work hard to get better every day."

Zetterblom finished day one in third place, shooting a 78, but found herself in first place, after shooting a 71 in the second round, to finish the tournament 5-over par. Sophomore Ana Aldana joined Zetterblom in the top-10, finishing in seventh place with a score of 163. Freshman Sophia Fousek made her collegiate debut with a 14th place finish with a score of 168, and Peyton Woody finished in 22nd with a 174.

Freshman Abigail Evans made her collegiate debut, finishing in 36th, and Olivia Morgan, Alyssa Davis, Kiri Maddox, and Chace Askew finished 39th, 40th, 41st, and 42nd, respectively.

The Skyhawks finished with a tournament score of 654 and trailed tournament winner Truett McConnell by 23 strokes.

Up next, the Skyhawks will travel to Palm Harbor, Florida, to compete in the Invite at Innisbrook, Sept. 27-28.
