Football falls on senior day

VALLEY, Ala. (Nov. 13, 2021) – The Point University football team closed out its season Saturday afternoon, hosting St. Thomas University, and fell to the Bobcats 38-14 inside Ram Stadium.

Before Saturday's game, the Skyhawks honored the 13 members of its senior class: Eric Blocker, Keijuan Calhoun, Parker Clemons, Tony Craig, Owen Cobb, CJ Henderson, Jacob Longacre, Marion McIver, Tyrique Robinson, Matt Thomas, Gavin Torbert, Kameron Weems and Ja'Darius Young.

The Bobcats opened the game up with a touchdown in its opening possession, taking an early 7-0 lead two minutes into the game. St. Thomas would extend its lead out to begin the second quarter with a field goal to go ahead 10-0. After the Skyhawks were unable to get on the board in their following possession, the Bobcats got the ball back, but in their opening drive, Quan Neal intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown, making the score 10-7. The Bobcats did not allow Point's touchdown to go unanswered as St. Thomas scored another touchdown on its following possession to extend its lead back out by 10 (17-7).

Once again, Point attempted to cut down on the Bobcats lead as Adam Sanders rushed for a 32-yard touchdown to bring the score back within three (17-14), but St. Thomas answered once again in their following possession with a touchdown to enter the half leading 24-14.

The Bobcats extended their lead out in the third quarter (31-14) and kept Point quiet for the rest of the game as Point was unable to score in the final two quarters.

Four Skyhawks took snaps from the quarterback position with Payton Allen leading the way, going 11-for-17. Robinson and Sanders led in rushing yards with 82 and 68, respectively. Robinson had 17 attempts while Sanders had five. Aaron Anderson had a game-high of 14 tackles.

With the completion of Saturday's game, the Skyhawks finish the season 2-9 (2-4 MSC).
