Cheer wins competition at Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. (Jan. 28, 2022) – The Point University Competitive cheer team started their season off on a high note, as the Skyhawks competed at the University of Mobile Friday morning and came in first place.

"I'm so proud of this team," head coach Lara Beth Griffin said. "They really are something special. We've had so many setbacks and challenges this season, and they just keep fighting for each other and striving for greatness. I've watched them grow as a team through all the obstacles they've faced and today, they shined so bright and came out on top! We're excited to come back to West Point with two wins! I'm incredibly blessed to be their coach."

The Skyhawks competed in two rounds, the first being an invitational round and the second being duals. Point scored an 85.93 in the invitational round, defeating host Mobile who came in second place with an 85.41. Loyola came in third with a 66.28 and Talladega came in fourth with a 57.30. Point went up against Talladega in the dual round and scored an 85.6 and the Tornadoes scored a 59.43.
