Skyhawks drop close AAC contest to No. 2 TWU

ATHENS, Tenn. (April 8, 2022) — The Point University baseball team traveled to face No. 2 Tennessee Wesleyan University Friday afternoon in game one of the Appalachian Athletic Conference series, and despite tying the game twice, the Skyhawks fell 4-3.

The Bulldogs took an early 2-0 lead, but in the top of the sixth, Jackson Bush tied the game with a 2-run home run. In the bottom of the seventh, a sacrifice fly would help TWU retake the lead 3-2, but the Skyhawks would answer in the top of the eighth, with an RBI triple from Francisco Garcia.
This would be the final tie of the game however, as an error in the bottom of the frame would give the Bulldogs the lead 4-3, and the Skyhawks were unable to answer.

TWU outhit the Skyhawks 9-6, with Jaysen Dower leading the Skyhawks, going 2-for-4. Dillon Brown, Garcia, Bush and Alex Marquand each recorded a hit, with Garcia having an RBI and Bush having two.

Cole Brown suffered the loss, going 7.1 innings, giving up nine hits, four runs (three earned), five walks and two strikeouts.

The Skyhawks and Bulldogs will be back in action tomorrow, as they compete in the doubleheader portion of their series, with first pitch of game one scheduled for 1 p.m.
