MOBILE, Ala. (Feb. 11, 2022) – The Point University baseball team traveled to Mobile, Alabama, to face the University of Mobile and Campbellsville in a weekend series and started the weekend off with two wins on Friday, beating Mobile 7-5 and Campbellsville 8-1.

With Friday's victories, Point advances to 3-2 on the season.

Game one- Point: 7 Mobile 5

The Skyhawks took an early four-run lead, posting two runs in the top of the second and two runs in the top of the third. Point's first run came across after a fielder's choice allowed Francisco Garcia to cross home plate, and a single by Dillon Brown scored Jackson Bush.

Point added on to its lead the next inning with a solo leadoff homer from Jakobe Smith and an error would allow Jhamante Woods to reach base, who would eventually score to help Point take a 4-0 lead. Mobile would cut Point's lead down to three with a run in the bottom of the third, but the Skyhawks would extend it out to five in the top of the fourth with two runs. Kole Sonnier would begin Point's rally with a single up the middle and Brown would bring him home, the next at-bat. Two batters later, Smith would score Brown to give Point a 6-1 lead. Brown's run proved to be the winning run for the Skyhawks, as Mobile would go on to score a run in the bottom of the fourth and fifth and attempt a walk-off victory in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run homer, but Casten Reed would come in for relief in the seventh and get the final three outs of the game to secure the win for Point.

Point had seven hits against the Rams, with Brown, Smith and Bush accounting for two each. Brown and Smith each accounted for two RBI's. Alex Williamson earned the win on the mound, going 4.0 innings, giving up one hit, two runs (both earned), walking three, and striking out three. Cale Whigham, Adam Castillo and Chase Raines came in for relief, but Reed's efforts earned him the save.

Game two- Point: 8 Campbellsville 1

In the top of the second, the Skyhawks quickly found their way to bases loaded, and Point took advantage of this with a five-run inning. Jaysen Dower got the first run on the board for the Skyhawks, with a single through the left side bringing Garcia home. With bases still loaded, Sonnier sent a ball over the left field fence for a grand slam. Sonnier's grand slam is his first home run of the season.

The Tigers would get a run back in the bottom of the inning, but Point would score two runs in the top of the third to go ahead 7-1. An error would bring home Garcia, and a single up the middle by Sonnier would score Connor Varnum. Woods would pad Point's lead in the top of the sixth with a solo home run to left field, his first of the season.
