Koala Men’s Soccer Defeats Point in AAC Contest

Columbia, SC – Ratesh Leach scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 87th minute as the Columbia College men's soccer team defeated Point University, 2-1, in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (ACC) Tuesday night in Younts Stadium. Leach's goal came off an assist from Eh Ah.

The Koalas will return to action Thursday, Oct. 27, at 6:30 pm, when they host Johnson (Tenn.) for senior day. It will also be the final home game of Columbia College.

Point and Columbia College played to a 0-0 tie after the first 45 minutes of Play.

The Skyhawks opened the scoring, knocking in a goal in the 63rd minute, for the 1-0 advantage.

The Koalas got on the scoreboard in the 74th minute as Jimmy Yancey knocked in the ball from the left side to tie the game.

Both defenses were solid until the 86th minute when Leach hit the game-winner.

The Koalas will close out its season Saturday, Oct. 29, at Tennessee Wesleyan.
