Point Volleyball ends season at the SSAC Volleyball Championships

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Nov. 15, 2024) - The Point University Volleyball team returned to the court for Day Two of the Southern States Athletic Conference Volleyball Championships where the Skyhawks took on Loyola University-New Orleans in the final match of Pool Play to determine their fate to go the Semi-Final Round. The Wolfpack were able to overcome the Skyhawks in a sweep.

Both opponents traded scores through the first six scores but the Wolfpack began to capitalize with multiple kills and feed from the attack errors. Point looked to climb back with kills from Claire Cordell and Angel Johnson but Loyola was halted to hold the Skyhawks to 16 Points through the first set. Set Two began with Tianna Kynard setting the tone with a kill past the Loyola defense. The Skyhawks continued to find early success as Ava Clay and Tianna Kynard perfectly timed the assisted block. The Wolfpack responded with an 8-2 run to extend their lead to 18-11. A service ace from Jasmyn Ceasar and an error from Loyola found the Skyhawks chipping away with their deficit being to four. The Wolfpack responded with a 6-1 run to find their way closer to set point. Tianna Kynard added two kills to give the Skyhawks an extra boost, but the Wolfpack responded with the final kill and took set two. Set Three saw both teams trading scores with the Skyhawks looking to regroup. Loyola used their defensive timing on blocks to halt Point to just 13 in the final set and take the match in a sweep. Tianna Kynard and Claire Cordell each led with six kills. Paige Lowe finished with 17 assists and four digs. Jordan Palmer added 10 digs in the stretch.
