Women’s Soccer adds shutout win on the road at Oakwood

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Sept. 12, 2024) - The Point University Women's Soccer returned to the pitch for a back-to-back against Oakwood University in a road nonconference battle where the Skyhawks cruised past the Ambassadors with a final score of 7-0. 

The Skyhawks opened the first half with a fast start with two early shots on goal setting up what was to come. Brooke Stansel opened the scoring column with the team's first goal and Naomi Tilley followed three minutes later with a goal of her own to bring the score to 2-0. Tilley continued her day of scoring as she added her second goal of the evening, assisted by Morgan Pent. The first-half domination did not stop there as Ari Wincek sprinted past the Oakwood defense to extend the lead 4-0. The Skyhawks ended the first half with a six-point lead as Isabella Frullaney and Morgan Pent added two final two goals of the first half. Naomi Tilley added a hat trick with her third goal of the evening to increase the lead to 7-0 in the second half. Point would shut out the Ambassadors on the road for their second consecutive win. 

In the Box 

Point outshot Oakwood with 43 total shots with 20 on goal compared to Oakwood's one shot. Naomi Tilley led with a Hat Trick of three scored goals followed by goals from Ari Wincek, Isabella Frullaney, and Morgan Pent. Brooke Stansel also scored a goal, her first since returning from a season-ending injury in the 2023 season. Jaynee Malcolm completed the shutout in goal and added a save on the evening.
