Battle of Troup County results in an Epic Ending for Women’s Soccer

LAGRANGE, Ga. (Sept. 3, 2024) - The Point University Women's Soccer team returned to the field for a nonconference game against NCAA Division III, Lagrange College where the Battle of Troup County resulted in a draw.

The first half opened with both opponents getting a feel of what the classic battle would turn out to be. The Panthers took advantage of their moment to score an early goal for the 1-0 lead. The Skyhawks looked to respond with multiple shots on goal but would be unable to tie the game through the first half.

Point looked reenergized in the second half adding more pressure on the defensive side and making it tough for the Panthers to extend their lead. The anticipation continued to build as the Skyhawks continued to test their luck with hopes of tying the game. As the game entered the final minute, the energy shifted to Point as the Skyhawks would not allow the Panthers to cross midfield. As the seconds dwindled to the final 16 seconds, Anyadi Colmenares connected with Isabella Frullaney to score the game-tying goal. The Skyhawks did not allow Lagrange to score another goal, ending the match in a draw.
