Women's soccer shutout by Columbia College (SC)

Columbia, Sc. (Oct. 25, 2022) - The Point University women's soccer team took a trip to Columbia, Sc. Tuesday night to square off against Columbia College (Sc) in a conference matchup and fell 1-0. 

The Koalas scored first with a goal in the 4-minute mark of the contest. Isabella Gurrieri, with an assist by Jordan Myers made the matchup 1-0. Point would get a shot on goal by Lorelei Lewis, but the Koalas goalie, Amorie Kostelak would come up with save in the 9 minute. Skyhawk's goalie, Erica Burkhardt would come up with a save in the 28 minute that was shot by Madison Stewart. At the end of the first half, the Koalas would take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Skyhawk's looked to come into the second half ready to dominate, but found themselves dealing with fresh legs, as the Koalas went to their bench and brought in five new players into the game. Jasmine Mathis got two shots off goal in both the 83 and 84 minute for Point, but was denied both times by Koala's goalie, Amorie Kostelak. Behind the four saves in goal from the Koala's goalie, and the lone goal by Isabella Gurrieri in the 4 minute, would lead Columbia College (Sc) to the 1-0 shutout over Skyhawks.

In the box 

Columbia College (Sc) outshot Point 10-5 with seven shots on goal compared to the Skyhawks' who had four. Jasmine Mathis led Point with two shots on goal and Lorelei Lewis added another in the contest. Erica Burkhardt tallied six saves in the matchup.

Point will return to the pitch for their last regular season contest as they travel to Bluefield, VA to take on Bluefield University for an AAC matchup on Saturday, Oct. 29. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
