Skyhawks pull through in tight matchup against Union

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 24, 2022) - The Point Women's Soccer team traveled to Kentucky for an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup against Union College and took the win 1-0.

The Skyhawks came into the match with an offensive game plan to start fast, which resulted in taking a few quick shots on goal but would not be able to convert. Point did not let the Bulldogs get them out of their plan as Alyssa Bennett scored a goal for the Skyhawks to take the lead 1-0 going into the half. On the defensive end, Point allowed one shot on goal for the entire first half.

In the second half, Union looked to slow down the Skyhawks by creating a bit of offense of their own as they took three shots on goal in the first 10 minutes. Point was put to the test on defense by making sure the lead would stay secured, which resulted in their defense making a big boost of stops. With time starting to run out for the Bulldogs, they continued to try to get one on the goal, but the Skyhawks would not budge. With their solid defense going into the final buzzer, Point earned their second win of the season and in the AAC.
