Tennis drops AAC contest to TWU

VALLEY, Ala. (March 25, 2022) – The Point University men's and women's tennis teams hosted nationally-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan Friday afternoon and both sides fell to the Bulldogs 7-0.

On the men's side, No. 23 Point's lone win came at No. 1 doubles with Alex Verlaguet and Guido Luna winning 6-2, but No. 3 Tennessee Wesleyan would win at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take a 1-0 lead entering singles play.

At No. 2 singles, Luna took his match to three sets but fell 6-7(4), 6-1, 4-6. At No. 5 singles, Santiago Speranza took his match to three sets, winning 6-4 to open the match before falling 6-1 and 10-3.

On the women's side, No. 11 Bulldogs won every match in both singles and doubles action.

The Skyhawks will be back in action tomorrow, as they host Johnson (Tenn.) at 11 a.m. at the Sportsplex in Valley, Ala.
