Men’s Lacrosse falls to Webber in season opener.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Jan. 21, 2023) - The Point Men's Lacrosse team traveled on the road to open their 2023 season Saturday afternoon, facing Webber International in a nonconference game and fell 26-5. 

Graduate Senior, Jeff Knapp and Sophomore Malyke Sillers led with two goals each. Knapp had two goals off 17 shots, and Siller had two goals off seven shots. In goal, Kiereek McLeod made eight saves. Freshman, Shaun McLaughin scored his first career goal in the contest, 

The Skyhawks jumped on the board first as Jeff Knapp scored the first goal for Point to jump ahead 1-0. Webber did not let that phase them as they scored the next two three goals to jump ahead 3-1 in the early going. The Warriors would jump ahead by five but the Skyhawks finally ended their drought as Jeff Knapp scored his second goal of the game to bring their deficit to 6-2. The Warriors continued to add their firepower by pushing past the Skyhawks by adding three points to their name. Malyke Sillers scored his first goal of the season which was assisted by Cam Simmons. Webber did not let their foot off the gas as the Warriors tacked on seven more scores to bring their lead to 10. Point found their way back into the net as Malyke Siller scored his second goal of the evening. The Warriors continued to remain unfazed as they added 10 more points to their lead to bring their total to 24. Shaun McLaughin scored his first collegiate goal to give the Skyhawks their final score of the game.
