Late run from the Skyhawks halted by TMU in AAC play

RJ Selman started the game for the Skyhawks with a three-pointer which was followed by a layup from Jack Gray to jump to a quick 5-4 lead. Both teams were scoreless for the next three minutes as each opponent tried to break free with a run to end the drought. The Bears ended the drought with a made jump shot, but on the next possession for the Skyhawks, Selman knocked down three shots from the charity strike to put them back in the lead. As the half went on, Point continued to find ways to push the momentum in their favor which was answered by a made jump shot from Alvaro Mendez. The bench production continued for Point as Sam Rees knocked down a three-pointer to put Point ahead by four. With under 10 minutes remaining in the half, Jack Gray added to the Skyhawks' lead, but TMU began to find their rhythm on offense. Two free throws and a converted jumper from the Bears tied the game at 14, and their teamwork to score continued with two more layups made. Justice Hayes responded with a scored basket for Point, but EJ Smith converted on the three ball to push the Bears' lead to 21-16. Truett McConnell's offense continued to elevate as they added 10 more points and only allowed two points from the Skyhawks on defense to go into halftime.

Entering the final half, the Bears pushed their deficit to a 35-18 lead after two made free throws and a layup. Point started to shake off the cold stretch on offense as Benjamin Ross, and Javier Turner made their way into the paint with strong takes. Turner's block on defense set up the And-one, and a made free throw to now have the Skyhawks trailing by single digits. Point continued to creep at TMU's lead as Javier Turner made his shots from the charity strike, which was followed by a layup to now trail 37-33. The Bears kept hold of their lead with a three-pointer to respond to Point's run, and CJ Brown followed up with the green light on the jump shot to push the Bears' lead back to nine. With under six minutes left in the contest, Benjamin Ross added to the Skyhawks' score with a layup to now trail by seven. Truett McConnell continued to have a response to each shot made from Point as the Bears crashed the boards to slow down the pace for the Skyhawks. With the Bears leading 50-39, Point took the next three scores to now trail by five at the 2:08 mark. TMU came out of their timeout with a made layup, but RJ Selman kept Point's hopes alive with a clutch made three for Point to trail by four. The Bears responded with a made three of their own and would go on to knock down another jump shot along with two final free throws to secure the win 59-55.
