Point turns it on late, wins fourth straight

WEST POINT, Ga. (Nov. 16, 2021) – Ray Reeves knocked down five shots from the perimeter and Corey Bowen and Javier Turner dominated on both ends as the Point University men's basketball team defeated Southeastern Baptist 86-64 Tuesday evening inside West Point Park Gymnasium.

The win marked Point's fourth straight as they improved to 7-2.

Both teams got on a slow start to open the game, with neither team able to lead by more than three points for majority of the first 13 minutes of action. RJ Selman finally gave Point its largest lead of the half with a triple with 7:25 remaining to help the Skyhawks ahead 27-22. Turner's back-to-back shots from under the basket would extend Point's lead out by nine (31-22). The Skyhawks continued to extend their lead out with a layup from Tommy Carter, putting them ahead by 10 and entering the break leading 39-30.

Turner opened the second half up with a dunk to put the Skyhawks ahead by 11, but the Crusaders would work back, bringing the score within four off a 3-pointer from Larry Holmes Jr. This was as close as Southeastern Baptist would come as a layup by Selman sparked an 8-0 run to put Point ahead 51-37. The Skyhawks worked their way up to a 20 point lead with 12:43 left in the game and did not allow the Crusaders to come within 17 points for the rest of the game.
