Point Football makes a big splash with recruits on signing day

WEST POINT, Ga. (Feb. 2, 2022)- The Point University Football team made a big wave with 36 players signing to continue their football careers at Point University for National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 1. Head Coach Trevor Zieders was pleased with the guys that were picked up and felt like they filled the positions that had gaps. 

Point signed and added six mid-year signees that have already started to make a splash with the team to fit into the culture. For signing day, Point added 28 players that the coaching staff is genuinely excited about. “We’re very excited about the talent that we’re bringing to the table, and as long as we continue to do what we’re doing now, we will be in great shape for the fall.” as mentioned by Zieders. After starting the 2022 season 0-5, Point finished their last four out of six games with wins to their name to go 4-7 overall. Regardless of the late momentum, many coaches and players from the team feel like they have a lot more to prove ahead of the 2023 season. When finding the guys that the coaching staff wanted, Zieders mentioned, “We’re looking for kids who value education, want to be a great teammate, but also value the family atmosphere that we are creating around here.” Coach Zieders’ message to his current players and future players was, “We’re just ready to work, we’re ready to put it on the line, and we want to get better every play. If we continue to do that and put that effort forth, we’re going to be fine.”
