Three Firehawks Honored on Senior Day, Firehawks Ground Skyhawks

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's basketball dominated from the opening tip defeating Point 52-41 on Saturday. Three Firehawk seniors were honored today, Aaryn Grace Lester, Halle Jones, and Faith Eubank.

In the opening stanza, UTS dominated PU only allowing the Skyhawks to score two points. UT Southern (7-15, 4-11) led 12-2 after one. Point (10-12, 5-9) fought back out scoring the Firehawks 15-14. UTS led 26-17 at the break.

In the third, both teams would struggle from the field. UTS shot five of 18, for 28 percent from the floor and held the lead 39-25 heading to the final period. UTS would heat up connecting on four of nine in the fourth. UTS would outrebound PU 35-34 and force 15 Skyhawk turnovers.

Takiyah Goff led the Firehawks with 13 points and three boards. Lauren Smith tossed in 12 points and nine rebounds. Kassidy Broussard added 10 points. Lester scored five points and led with 10 rebounds. 

NEXT UP

UT Southern will begin the final regular season road trip, traveling to Hattiesburg, Miss., to face William Carey. UTS and WCU will tip off at 5:30 p.m., on Thursday, February 15th. The teams met earlier this season in Pulaski. WCU defeated UTS 90-59.
